Born in Atlanta and raised primarily in Amelia and Mechanicsville, Garrett moved to New York City at the age of 17 to attend The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. After graduating, she became a singer on the Radisson Diamond cruise ship at 20. It was aboard ship that Garrett first performed the songs of Judy Garland professionally as part of a cabaret. As for her cabaret, Garrett is mum on the songs she plans to perform, but hints at composers who are mainstays of the Broadway canon. “You might hear Gershwin, you might hear Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein,” she says. “My influences for the cabaret are old school.”
