                                                                     Welcome To Richmond Symphony League

With roots dating back to the late 1950’s, the Richmond Symphony League (RSL) supports the Richmond Symphony through fundraising,  education and community involvement. The RSL, a non-profit membership organization, also cultivates a volunteer base to support the Richmond Symphony.

The RSL provides consistent, substantial financial support to the Richmond Symphony through an annual pledge of $100,000. Our endowment fund, loan fund, and scholarships are additional ways that we support the musicians of the Richmond Symphony.

Examples of the RSL’s commitment to music education and supporting the Richmond Symphony:

Education and Community Engagement - Volunteer for the Richmond Symphony youth and community oriented projects:

Come and Play - Invites musicians of all ages and levels to bring their instruments and play alongside the musicians of the Richmond Symphony under the leadership of our Symphony Associate Conductor.

Discovery Concerts - School age children are held during the school day to engage young minds through exciting full orchestra performances.

The Student Concerto Competition - An annual solo competition held to encourage and recognize talented young Virginia musicians.

Additional Volunteer Opportunities - There are also other opportunities to volunteer by working on our Hospitality, Membership, Zero Cost and Ways and Means Committees.

RSL Supports Elegant, Unique Fundraisers - The Richmond Symphony Orchestra League Designer House is our signature fundraiser. Started in 1984, the RSL has sponsored the Designer House every other year to raise money for the Richmond Symphony.  For each Designer House, the RSL selects a large host home for the event and then invites local designers to compete for the opportunity to decorate one of the 20 to 30 spaces inside and outside the home, donating their time and materials.  The Designer House month-long events offer many volunteer opportunities.

Socialize with RSL Members and Guests at Champagne and Chocolates - RSL members and their guests participate in Champagne and Chocolates, a series of fun and festive fundraising social events.  These mini-concerts are held in private home settings and feature Richmond Symphony musicians.  They offer the opportunity to meet and talk with the musicians in a more informal manner. The fee for each event offers another means to provide financial support for the Symphony.

To support the Richmond Symphony, the RSL is constantly coming up with new events and fundraising opportunities that not only involve its membership, but the community as well.
